PhD Students

    Fernandez-Carbajales Cañete, Victor (Computer Scientist)
Víctor Fernández-Carbajales Cañete received the M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering ("Ingeniero en Informatica" degree) in 2004 (2000-2004) and the Advance Study Diploma in 2006 both at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (Spain). In 2004 he joined Video Processing and Understanding Lab (VPU Lab) at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. Since 2004 he is a PhD student under the supervision of Dr. Miguel Ángel García. His research interests are focused in the analysis of video sequences for the video surveillance (moving object extraction, object tracking and recognition, event detection…), and the using of the visual attention in this environment.
Lopez Cifuentes, Alejandro (Grado en Ingeniería de Telecomunicación)
Luna Garcia, Elena (Grado en Ingeniería de Telecomunicación)
Martin Nieto, Rafael (Ingeniero de Telecomunicación)
Rafael Martín Nieto received the M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering ("Ingeniero de Telecomunicación" degree) in 2012 (2007-2012) at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (Spain ). In 2007 he joined Video Processing and Understanding Lab at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. His research interests are focused in the analysis of video sequences for the video surveillance (object segmentation, object tracking, event detection, multicamera systems,…).
Navarro Fajardo, Fulgencio (Ingeniero de Telecomunicación)
Fulgencio Navarro Fajardo received the M.S. degree in Telecomunications Engineering ("Ingeniero de Telecomunicación" degree) in 2013 (2008-2013) at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (Spain). From 2012 to 2014, he has been with the Video Processing and Understanding Lab (VPU-Lab) at Universidad Autónoma of Madrid as a researcher. He has participated in projects dealing with video-surveillance and activity recognition (EVENTVIDEO), and with UAV vision. His research on low level techniques of image processing and computer vision is applied in the analysis of video sequences (object tracking and recognition, scene recognition and reconstruction, and 3D vision).
Ortego Hernandez, Diego (Ingeniero de Telecomunicación)
Diego Ortego Hernández received the M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering ("Ingeniero de Telecomunicación" degree) in 2013 (2012-2013) and the MPhil degree in Research and Innovation in Information and Communications Technology (postgraduate Master) in 2014 at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (Spain). From 2012 to 2014, he has been with the Video Processing and Understanding Lab (VPU-Lab) at Universidad Autónoma of Madrid as a researcher. He has participated in the EVENTVIDEO project dealing with activity recognition. His current research interests are focused on mono-camera and multi-camera activity understanding.
    Tiburzi Paramio, Fabrizio (Computer Scientist)
Fabrizio Tiburzi was born in Madrid 1982. He got his degree on computer science in the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid in 2004 and concluded his Master Thesis in 2006. Since 2004 he has been a member of the VPU-LAB, focusing his research on the analysis of video sequences in compressed domain, the static and dynamic characterization of textures, the segmentation of objects in presence of complex backgrounds and the study of robust techniques to fit parametric models in artificial vision –which he mainly applies to estimate the camera motion in unfavorable situations–. He has collaborated in the MESH and AceMedia ...
